Metformin Reduces Risk of Cancer Death

A routinely prescribed type 2 diabetes drug called metformin has shown some great potential to cut down mortality rates in select groups of cancer patients, according to a new study. The drug was found to significantly reduce mortality risk associated with certain cancer types, when prescribed to postmenopausal patients with type 2 diabetes and cancer.

Good news … I also take Metformin for my diabetes, maybe I live longer then :smile:

I wish I could get it even though I don’t have diabetes.

They’re doing a trial at the moment on people who don’t have blood sugar problems and if that’s successful it might become available in general.

Every doctor I’ve ever known has offered me metformin for weight gain side effects even when I didn’t want it. It doesn’t do much for weight gain but at least that’s good news for life expectancy.
