Metformin medication for weight loss?

My psychiatrist is so smart and helpful. He’s trying his best to help me! He prescribed me Metformin for weight loss and to prevent diabetis. He told me its a glucophage that eats sugar in your blood and blocks carbs absorption with food.
Its a medication for diabetis but I don’t have diabetes.

The pharmacist was like wtf and asked me why he prescribed me a diabetis medication if I am not diabetic. I guess my psychiatrist knows more than pharmacists in medicine hahaha

I have been using it for weeks but it only decreased my weight by a couple of pounds because I rarely get out of bed and never exercise. I feel less hugry. It definitely slowed my weight gain process!

Yeah my brother was prescribed metformin and he doesn’t have diabetes either.
Sometimes its prescribed for weight loss and overall health.
My brother is obese.

I got prescribed metformin for the exact same thing. It was just a test, though. And the test kind of failed, as I didn’t lose any weight or gain appetite control. But it was worth a shot; it works for some people.

Metformin hasn’t helped me lose any weight. I took it for weight loss years ago and it didn’t work. Now I need it for diabetes. Bummer.

I am also prescribed Metformin, and i have to say it does wonders in preventing over eating, as it makes you feel full. I haven’t put on any weight since starting, in fact i’ve actually lost some weight. I don’t have diabetes either, but i would recommend this drug.

Metformin is used for many things including PCOS, a disease that women get. It’s also used for other health reasons.
