I currently get 31 hours a week one-to-one support provided by a care company. Social services pay them direct.
I’m in a position to have something called direct payments of roughly £550 a week. This means the money is paid to me and I can choose my own personal assistant and employ them directly. I will get audited every year and the money has to be spent on care costs.
I like the staff at the care company but its very ridged. The rota is wrote a month in advance and I get hours at a set time which means I can’t go to the cinema with my staff. If I went direct payments I can set the times at sort notice and go places, a big plus is if they had a car. Also I could travel abroad with them which would be half the cost of going with care company. I would need to find somebody to employ which can be hard.
A plus for the care company is that I see different staff.
A) Not really sure why you are being hostile. The information is relevant to the point and in no way is it bragging.
B) It isn’t income. It goes from the government, to @bobbilly to the person they are employing. They can’t just pocket it if they don’t employ someone.
I think you’re being extremely over sensitive. Someone should be able to ask an honest question without having people taking it as a personal put down.
I know I’m fourinate that I have a really good community nurse. I’m not under the mental health team but the intellectual disability service and they are more holistic. Thats why I get funding more than others in the U.K who get mental health services.
