His name was Uncle Wiggly and he escaped from his cage. We thought he was lost forever. But the next spring, we found him outside happily munching on some clover. He was still tame and did not object to going back to his cage. The only difference was his coat was not as bright in color. This was when I was a 7 year old. I remember wishing I were able to survive in the wilds like he did.
I bought a hamster from the pet store and it turned out to be pregnant I seperated the Mom from the babies because she was killing them and when they were older i donated the babies to the pet store
Every once in awhile they can turn on their babies or vice versa. We had a case where the babies ate the mother. I can’t remember if they survived or not. We raised a lot of hamsters and sold them to the pet store.
My sister and I had dwarf hamsters growing up. One was pretty mean so when it died I gave it a great send off by chucking it into the woods.
When the nice hamster died I made a nice crypt out of concrete slabs and gave it a great funeral service.
I have always been a fish or bird person tbh. I do love our two doggos and gatos too.
what are doggos and gatos?
Dogs and cats.

I’ve had 2 hammies in my lifetime
Both hammies were after I was married.
Our first hamster was a robo dwarf hamster. His name was Professor Albus Dumbledore (from Harry Potter). He got a huge cancerous tumor when he was 1 year old. We had a great vet who did surgery to remove the cancer. At 2 years old, the cancer came back and he died. But I think he lived a good life.
Our second hamster was a Russian dwarf hamster. Her name was Svetlana (Russian name). Her nickname was Pancake, cause she’d flatten out when you hold her, haha. She lived until about 2.5 years. She was pretty healthy.

Uncle Wiggly! What a great name @PinCushion!
We had 2 hamsters as children. One was a big albino female who ended up dying cuz she didn’t chew enough to keep her teeth short and one tooth grew up thru her cheek and she starved. Her name was Princess. Then we had a little mottled brown male who we called Teddy. He lived a good life then died in old age.
