Many years ago the kids had a hamster. It died and as it turns out most only live around 2 years. The kids didn’t care really as they hated the cleanup part.

You’re supposed to have 2 hampsters (or is it guinea pigs) not just one as they’re social animals like us I think and get unhappy if there’s only themselves.
But do your research on google before you buy any pet.

I had two hamsters when I was in my 20s (not at the same time). I hand tamed them from when they were very young and they were very affectionate and playful. Their max life span is around two years. I was heartbroken when I lost mine, I had them cremated. I don’t think I could handle that again, so I haven’t gotten any more.

I had a Syrian hamster. His name was Gerald. He was my best buddy. He was very special.
Now me and my gf have to dwarf hamlets named bubbles and sleepy . There very energetic characters

Guinea pigs. Hamsters usually are solitary and territorial

I’ve had two dwarf hamsters as a kid. One was fat and mean and the small one was my best bud. When the fat one died I chucked its corpse into the woods. When the small one died I took some bricks and made a nice crypt for it. My dad was probably wondering why he was five bricks short. Ahh memories.
