Hey’yall. Im on 600mg of seriquel (200 morning 400 night) and 5mg abilify morning. My, I guess, “pdoc” says it’s a “normal” kind of dosage, but I feel quirky about it. Esp I think I get too much seroquel. Do ya’ll have any views on this? Regards
Every dosage and every drug is different for everybody. They can go up to about 900mg for seroquel I think.
Edit: just checked, max dose is 750 for schizophrenia.
new gen aps will come i hope but some are failing to make its mark …
I am pretty sure that younger people - teens and 20 year olds especially - need to be on more meds at higher doses, this was the case for me at least.
As I have entered my middle years, I need less meds - this is what Geriatric medicine is all about - prescribing meds at lower doses for those aging patients.
These illnesses tend to mellow out more as we age - and fewer meds at lower doses are usually required to control the symptoms - this is what my psychiatrist told me at least
**Are you saying youre in the geriatric phase? :open_mouth: Kidding....I hope youre right about symptoms getting milder as a person gets older. Dont think I can take another 20 years of my sons symptoms! **
Yeah, I found what Wave said to be true. My symptoms were very intense when I was young and I was put on a massive dose of medication and it barely helped. I slowly tapered down over the years as I got older. I don’t even think they give that big a dose of that particular medication to anyone any more.
**Well, he`s 38 now-how much longer?
**
I started getting better around my mid-forties. I guess that’s not the news you wanted to hear.
You know I think that’s wonderful that you started feeling better, the more post like this is helpful I would think for others it can and does go into remission.
I’m on the highest dosage of abilify, and just took the first generic of it today. Anything not to have to hear voices anymore.
In my case it was my early thirties that I really started to improve. I’m now down to what is more or less a maintenance dose of Geodon plus some Effexor as I’ve been struggling with depression off and on.
