Meds vs. no meds

My sister is bipolar. She told me years ago she decided not to take any meds. I think she still don’t take anything and she never was hospitalized, i think. She’s married and she has a kid. So…is it possible to live a normal life without meds, right?

It depends on the intensity of your illness,

I had two hospitalizations. Do you think i can have hope that my pdoc decide i can stop treatment? If i have a third episode, probably i will have to take AP for the rest of my life. But with only two episodes, can i hope the end of treatment?

I was never hospitalized and I need to take them for the rest of my life. So I don’t think you should base it off hospitalizations

I have known several people with bipolar disorder that dont take meds and function pretty normally. I used to work with them full time prior to becoming sick myself. I think it’s much harder to pull something like this off with a schiz diagnoses.

Do you have sz?

What meds do you take now? Neglecting your two episodes how are you overall? What was the time span between your two episodes?

Yes, paranoid sz

I dont have sz. I only had two delusion moments (psychotic episodes) with hospitalization, 2 years apart. During that 2 years i was not medicated at all. I take invega pill every day 3mg.

So yes, its possible for you,

If all you have to take is one little pill why wouldn’t you just take it and carry on with the rest of your life? Are you having side effects?

You don’t have any other mental problems other than that two episodes?

oh my, well the doctor should switch you then. But I could see why you would want to stop.

A have a difficult personality, for exemple, i don’t like noises… but it doesn’t look like an illness. I look like a very normal person. I don’t hear voices, nothing. I tought my low moods could be ‘negative symptoms’ but those moments can be considered ‘normal’ moods.

I tried 5 different AP, 4 of them gave me this side effect and the first one i took put me a looooot weight on
