Anyone else think that keeping a job would be difficult with the side effects from medications. I was told once at one of the jobs I had working in a factory that they thought I was on drugs. I was on risperidone. Do you ever wonder if people think that you are less of a worker because of the side effects of your medication? What should you tell them? Maybe something like if I seem a little out of it it is because of my medication. But then do you tell them more?
Once I told a guy I had rough mornings because of my medication and he went tougher on me going forward. This was community service. They make me a little lazy but abilify doesn’t give me too many sideeffects
Yeah I don’t know how much of a problem it was for me but I’m wondering if it will effect future employment. If he went tougher on you does that mean that it would negatively impact you if you had a job. Or was he just trying to help get you moving because you said your mourning were rough?
Risperidone is a heavy medication and it can cause cognitive impairment. There are lighter antipsychotics u could try. On a lower dose of these u can function decently even thrive.
Schizoaffective disorder makes it hard for me to work. The voices suicidal thoughts disorganized thinking.
I tried working at a factory through a temp. agency when I was on the Haldol shot one time. They were having a strike at the time. The regular workers were picketing outside. At that factory they ran the assembly very fast, and the way it was set up you had to engage in all kinds of awkward movements while you worked. Some of the guys who worked there stayed at the place one day and then quit. I made it three days, and then I was fired for being too slow. I think the owner of that factory was trying to wear out all the workers he got, so he could say he tried to hire workers, but American workers were too lazy, and he needed illegal immigrant labor to get the job done.
Everyone at my last job asked if I was "on something " or “what is wrong with you” because my meds made me so lethargic
When i was clozaril i was kitchenhand and i was always sweating like hell and drug was cause heavy cognigitive impairment that it doesn t allow to learn even very simple tasks.i was always tired at that drug.but after i get paliperidone all my situation well.i can work 12 hours a day without problem.no cognigitive impairment or sweating or tiredness.by the way i m working at hospital as a cleaner but luckly two months later i will have my real job which is cook.
