Meds either way

I had severe PTSD for years and my dad thought I was hallucinating and made me go to a psych ward and told a psychiatrist I was hallucinating and they diagnosed me with schizophrenia when really I was struggling with PTSD.

I just read that antipsychotics can be used to treat PTSD like Seroquel, Abilify and Risperdal so even if I wasn’t diagnosed with schizophrenia I’d still probably have to take an antipsychotic anyway for PTSD.

The PTSD isn’t as bad now as it was years ago so I hope I won’t always need to take an antipsychotic but I’m afraid of getting insomnia if I try to taper off of my antipsychotic.

Just taper real slowly it might be kinda wonky for a little while but you will adjust

APs numb emotional reactions so I can see why it would help with PTSD.

I was reading more about meds and I might stay on Invega Trinza because I read it can help with anger and mood stabilization which I had from PTSD. I’ll consider other antipsychotics too in the future.

Yeah, that’s what I think too.

only do this cutting down on meds with a pdoc advising.

I will if I ever decide to do it in the future if I feel like I don’t need meds anymore or want to reduce them.
