Question about meds

If i wanted to come off my med and switch to a less potent drug would that help?

i mean is there a med that could ease me off the AP,

i started thinking that maybe i could get by on an anti depressant but God knows

I have always been on antidepressants

If you find an AP that has fewer side effects than an anti-depressant, what is wrong with taking an AP?

I have been trying medications and combinations for years, and now I am symptom and side effect free on a combination.

Perhaps, if you venture and try different things, something might work without giving much.
But, psychiatrists have their foremost duty to end psychosis ASAP. So, basically, they will try the more potent APs first which will also lead to major side effects. What you have to realize is that what works for you may be a more benign AP. For instance, I was taking Clozapine 800 mgs once, and when I mixed it with Abilify, I got it lowered to 350. However, symptoms resurfaced when I lowered the Clozapine further. The Psychiatrists weren’t willing to change Clozapine, so I found a psychiatrist who would prescribe me Latuda. It worked but I was gaining weight, so I asked him to switch me to Ziprasidone. For years he had been telling me, “it rarely works”, so I went to the pharmacy, got myself Ziprasidone, and it worked like magic at only 40 mgs. Then I got myself a new psychiatrist and told him that the previous one prescribed me Ziprasidone. After all, It is your life, you have to find a way.

I wouldn’t take an AP, if you don’t absolutely have too.
I would stick with an anti-depressant.

I’d like to try and go from an AP to an antidepressant, i am on a low dose of my AP atm anyway, or idk if there is anything else i could take that would help me step down from my AP
