Anybody else experience Catathrenia? Its groaning in your sleep. For me it started sometime over the summer, according to my bf. Sometime during the night I take a breath and hold it, then I start groaning. I just googled it, thinking it was apnea, but I guess its Catathrenia. It wakes him up and he elbows me to stop and breathe, and I wake up. Its really more annoying for him than it is for me.
Sounds like you’d benefit from a sleep clinic. They will monitor a few nights sleep and help you get a good night sleep. Which in the long term will help reduce mental health symptoms.
I’m not sure but by this the groan would be when exhaling so the person would be breathing.
Is it possible that you are dreaming and whatever you are dreaming about it causing you to hold your breath and groan out loud?
I don’t usually remember my dreams. But like the wiki entry says now that I’m aware of the groaning I wake up mid-groan. I do it every night, even when the bf is not sleeping with me. Since I started taking Saphris my sleep has been weird, restless but heavy at the same time.

I googled Saphris and vivid dreams and it appears that you may not be alone in experiencing this as it does seem to cause vivid dreaming for some.
