Hi, I currently take Latuda. It is good because it doesn’t affect prolactin and it doesn’t sedate me. Sadly it does cause anxiety. Are you aware of any alternative medicine that doesn’t raise prolactin and is non sedative please?
Abilify and prolixin I believe but both these will probably cause anxiety too. Have you thought about a cogentin?
there were posted on this site some studies about add-on abilify to deal with prolactin issues. Apparently just a small dose added to your AP of choice can do the trick. Here’s some threads on it.
Hi, I hadn’t heard of prolixin? May I ask you what that is please? As for cogentin, I presume that it is an anti anxiety med but I would initially prefer to take medication that is less anxiety inducing!
Hi, seems like a good idea but are any of those antipsychotics non sedative?
Prolixin is a first gen antipsychotics. It caused me sideaffects…but not sedation and doesn’t cause to raise prolactin! I’d recommend abilify over it (which I’m on now)
My anxiety is manageable, but then again I take klonopin
Abilify is stimulating if anything
Abilify (aripiprazole) is not sedative for most people that take it. Sometimes too activating for some. Also as said can be a bit of a problem when anxiety is an issue. I did not have too much anxiety and I am very comfortable on it. I do not have experience with other medications other than Risperdal (risperidone) so can’t tell you too much about others. But perhaps a small dose of abilify added to your current medication will solve prolactin issues, as those studies suggested. Perhaps at such a small dose anxiety is not an issue but I don’t know…
Abilify and Seroquel are antipsychotics which actually decrease prolactin. [1]
And Asenapine, Olanzapine, Chlorpromazine, iloperidone, ziprasidone, lurasidone are antipsychotic which have moderate ability to increase prolactin. [1]
