Medication never doing anything

so,

ive been on a bunch of different kinds of medications for mental health issues (anti convulsants, antipsychotics, ssris, sedatives to name a few) if i remember correctly ive been on 13 different meds over the course of about 2.5 years and by and large, none of them ever had any effect on me at all.

the only two medications that i think ever affected me were adderall and risperdal. i was exhausted when i was taking risperdal, but i was only on it for a few days and that exhaustion could have been from 50 other stressful things that were going on at the same time, and adderall gave me bad legs pains. so of the only 2 medications that ever did anything whatsoever to me they were just side effects.

None of the medications ive ever been on have helped me in any way, with most of them never doing anything, and i dont know what to do anymore. I havent been on any medication in over 6 months, and my psychiatrist even told me to my face that he didnt want to prescribe me anything anymore because nothing was affecting me. apparently he was at such a loss that the last thing he suggested (off the record too, he made that much clear) i try was just marijuana.

bottom line is im asking if anyones had any sort of expiriences like this with meds or a psychiatrist and any advice. hearing just about anyones two cents would be welcome at this point. sorry for the wall of text.

How about Clozipine? I hear that called the last resort drug. I think the term for your problem is called “med-resistant” and other people are like this too. There’s alternative treatments for schizophrenia; like herbs or supplements or vitamins. But they only help a minority.

You really haven’t given the medicine a chance to start working. It’s like exercising for a few days then wondering why you haven’t lost any weight.
Meds take time, there is no such “One-pill wonder” to cure all ills.

i know that theres not a single cure all pill, risperdal was the only medication that i was on for a super short time, my bad for not specifying that that. All the other medications i was on i was on for longer periods of time and only stopped taking them when my psychiatrist told me to.

uh, huh.
So now that you’ve stated absolutely nothing works and now your pdoc suggests (off the record- naturally), you try weed, why don’t you give it a try, since he is the professional of course, and report back to us in a few weeks at just how good his advice was?
Sounds like he got his license, should he actually have one he earned and not bought, at the CrackerJacks University.
Does he still play with the toy from the box?

good question! 🤷

000h I see keyboards in your avatar…fun!
By the way,
I’ve been on most of the meds available from 1996 to 2013, and only haldol + topamax seemed to help me without too many ugly side effects. I understand the want to have something work without disabling you, but I dislike the smell of weed so much it would never be an option for me.

hey,

Six weeks minimum. If your cutting it out sooner then there’s no way it’ll work.

Yeah pot works for a lot of people…but never seen anyone who has schizohrenia! It’s a poison for a brain disorder like schizophrenia…which may tell you something!

If it works your probably not schizophrenic!

Seriously…you don’t run into a cinema and shout Fire!

My pdoc always asks if I’m into marijuana. It’s a standard question with some therapists because marijuana is really bad for schitzo. As if it needs more paranoia! I don’t do marijuana for that reason even tho it’s legal where I live

The first thing I thought of when I read what your pdoc told u was “what is he smoking!!!” …oh.right. Pot…lol.
Revoke his crackerjack license please…
