I have thought about taking medical marijuana, for my social phobia. Do you think it will affect my sz? Does anybody take medical marijuana?

Yes likely. THC always made me psychotic. Sometimes I think about buying it but change my mind, not worth the risk. Also it doesn’t treat social phobia, it will even make anxiety and paranoia worse. Talk with your Dr, there are meds for social phobia. I had a friend who was on citalopram for social phobia

it affects my SZ. i start hallucinating and “teleporting” to different realities. which basically is like the thought in my head become reality. so if i were to think about being at the beach, i would fully see the beach and not see anything real around me and forget i imagined it and i would think i was really there for example so it is outta control. and i think it makes my paranoia worse even after it wears off. and while im high i can create new delusions that stick with me long after and flare up when im not even high

Taking marijuana for social anxiety would be more like pouring hot sauce on a burn. A major side effect of marijuana is paranoia.

Jake I don’t think that a doctor will give medical marijuana to someone diagnosed with sz

Sorry Jake, but I don’t think medical marijuana is a good idea. It’s not a 100% guarantee that it will exasperate your sz symptoms, but it’s very likely. Maybe try CBD hemp flower instead? It’s very similar, just without the THC. CBD Hemp flower won’t make you paranoid or anything, but may help with mood and anxiety.

for what it’s worth, my pdoc knows I use CBD hemp flower and he’s cool with it. But my previous pdoc was against it. So results may vary

I know some people take medical marijuana….what issues do you have to have to qualify for it. I think some people on this site takes it. I heard people that take it have chronic pain issues?

Kava kava is banned in Europe as it causes kidney damage. Don’t take it.

Ask your pdoc before trying medicinal marijuana. Medical marijuana is so strong these days lol it’s risky for someone with sz

Medical Cannabis is sometimes used with bipolar disorder but less likely for SZ

I like cannabis but it makes my head spin so I stopped vaping it. I think it can defo exacerbate symptoms so don’t smoke if you have pre existing anxiety.
