I kind of think we are almost at an inflection point in the world where we are so saturated with constant media that very little is impressive or surprising.
For example extreme sports videos on youtube.
There is clip after clip after clip of the next crazy stunt but there is so many that it all seems mundane.
So many content creators seems to try to go for shock value or click bait to get your attention.
I fully reject that type of content lol
Weâre probably over stimulated. I think thatâs why so many people are attracted to that off-grid lifestyle. They can sense the need to escape âthe worldâ.
I havenât been watching much media lately. Havenât been watching the news. Havenât been watching any TV and I usually only look on youtube when Iâm looking for a clip for the forum or something. I have had almost zero media exposure over the last few weeks.
Anything with a âsocialâ component I believe does way more harm than good:
Altering face-to-face communication
Shortening attention spans
Spreading misinformation rapidly
Negatively affecting mental health
Changing the cultural landscape to value shallowness and âaestheticsâ over truth
And also, not to mention that this is all recent technology, therefore we donât know the potential psychological and societal implications that exposure to this type of content may cause.
Nothing wrong with a platform that allows humans to connect with each other and share stuff⌠Just kinda took a really hard turn for the worse, and is basically highlighting and glorifying the ills of society at large (in my opinion, anyway).
