Meal ideas for a first or second date

I reactivated one of the dating sites I use. I was just wondering if the commentariat here had good ideas for a first or second date, in case I get lucky and find a date :grinning:

I live near a large city, so I have plenty of types of food options. I mean, Iā€™m down for making some food at home too haha

Making some food at home sounds like an awesome plan.

Otherwise, you cannot go wrong with a good japanese!

Get something real messy, like ribs.:smiley::smiley:

Mini golf!

ETA: sorry, youā€™re looking for food suggestions!

In that case, sushi is cool, BBQ is cool, even just something super casualā€” some place where you two can get to know one another while also eating some good grub would be ideal :+1:

@dreamer54 Japanese or Chinese sounds good!

@GrayBear if it were up to me, Iā€™d have no problem with it lol if she agreed to eat at a bbq place on a first or second date, I might ask her to marry me

Thinking about it, home cooking sounds better because you can put your own music

I feel like a home cooked meal is really intimate so maybe save that for a second date. Maybe take them to a nice mid ranged restaurant, not too expensive or cheap. I donā€™t recommend a Piggly Wiggly place on the first date though Iā€™d find it awesome.

Sound advice, @sweetpotatopie I would obviously have to find out what kind of food she is into, but a mid ranged restaurant is probs the way to go.

Is offering to go for a hike a reasonable idea for an early date? I can kind of ā€œpaceā€ while talking, which is what I normally do lol

I agree that an at home dinner is too intimate for a first date. If youā€™re looking to save money, you can do a casual sitdown restaurant. I wouldnā€™t do anything that was buffet style or fast food.

I hope your date goes well.

Hmmm idk about that. Maybe if sheā€™s into hiking yeah!

Otherwise a coffee or some drinks will do for a first date I think

Yes a hike is a great idea and take picnic lunch to make it extra special. Maybe nibbles like cheese and crackers or sushi or fancy sandwiches and sparkling cider. You know, step it up slightly.

to be honest, Iā€™m awful in a sit down restaurant environment. I always get paranoid, which certainly wouldnā€™t be a good look.

Coffee to go and maybe go to a park?

My son had a girlfriend for seven months and more than once they got takeout from a restaurant and then went to a park to eat.

I think they went to a fairly inexpensive Mexican restaurant one of the times.

Sounds good!

You can also buy a little present for her, whatever little gift would be very appreciated I think (this tip is from @Schztuna iirc)

I really like the park or picnic idea. Low stimuli areas where I can be myself more.

Thanks for replies, everyone. These are all great ideas

Hmmm, I dunno if it was me or not !

Gifts are cool, but they can also be very personal things depending on who youā€™re giftingā€” Iā€™d say if anything, you can offer to pay for her meal/coffee if you feel comfortable with that :+1:
