McGregor’s record surprised me. His most recent win was against an aging Cowboy Cerrone in 2020, but for his next most recent win you would have to go all the way back to 2016 when he won against Eddie Alvarez. That’s ancient history! That was a big fight but it was so long ago. Does he still have “it”?

I don’t think he has it anymore. As Marvin Hagler once said “It’s hard to get out of bed in the morning to go for a run when you’re sleeping in silk sheets. That being said in Conor’s prime Chandler would have been an easy fight for him. Lunging in with those big looping shots, Conor would have sniped him.

ill prob still watch the fight but being a mcgregor fan prior to 2016 was much more reasonable. hes been taking a beating nonstop since then

i almost feel like mcgregors legacy wouldve been better if he retired. like imagine hypothetically if michael jordan while in the nba lost the ability to score any points, but continued to play for another decade with no entertaining moments, some people are so talented in their prime that when or if they drop below average in their performance people forget about how good they were as new failures will keep showing up. like if they made a shitty sequel to a movie that is equally as popular but no where near in good in quality most people will only remember the most recent event which basically discredits the original

It’s like when pro boxers fight well past their prime. I think the situation is like what I heard a sportscaster say, “Every now and then, an old fighter can get it together for just one more fight and pull off a victory.” I think that drives a lot of aging fighters.

One time we saved up money and invited friends over to watch.
