I don’t want my kids here today. I’m so tired and in pain. I just want to curl up on my recliner and snooze while watching Netflix.
I love my kids more than anything. I am not turning them away. I’m just doing some self care

Don’t worry about it; even the greatest person isn’t the greatest person.
One thing that popped into my head is to schedule some kind of day off once or twice a week where you can just forget about responsibilities and lounge around in your pj’s all day and eat and watch TV and you don’t have to worry about anyone else. Maybe taking a deliberate, scheduled time off will give you more energy for the rest of the week. It’s probably a shitty suggestion but we all need time outs sometimes to recharge our batteries to face the world again.

Their dad and I share custody so the kids are with him this week but they stop by almost every when it is his week. Normally I love that but I’m feeling kind of rough tonight.

I feel the same way with my son. But the next visit he shows no sigh of being left out. He loves me and he knows that I am sick and sometimes need time to myself. So don’t worry about it your kids love you and will always.

Despite your negative feelings perhaps you should count yourself lucky. Many parents, it seems, often wonder why they never see their kids. I think you should enjoy your time with them while they are young. And hey, it’s okay to be downtrodden or ill tempered sometimes. I’m sure your kids on some level understand your challenges. No need to be sorry. We all struggle.
