I was watching batman begins. I left my phone in the bedroom so it wouldn’t distract me. I put on headphones too to block out outside noise.
Haven’t quite managed a full movie but really pleased with this. Some progress has been made!

That’s awesome! 1515
Thanks @TheCanuk - I am really pleased
Nice, @anon94176359!
I’m happy you’re able to sit down through a movie and enjoy it.
Good job dude.

Is akathisia the problem? When mine was real bad a few years back I watched Thor Ragnorok standing up.
Anyway I hope you enjoy the movie, I’m a big fan of Comic Book movies. The Joker was freaking fantastic just so long as you’re not easily triggered.
No the akathisia is ok. Not quite sure what the problem was but my brain refused to commit to a whole session of concentrating on the tv. Have had to work hard to get to this point
Is there a name for this issue? I have had it for years. I don’t often watch movies or commit to a sequential series because of it. I just assumed my attention span was not large enough. But I am beginning to think that it also has to do with memory. At least for me. It is often not worth trying to sit through anything that lasts longer than 45 minutes in one go, since I cannot remember how the start relates to the end.
That said, I am so impressed with an hour of focus. That is a huge deal. Congratulations! I hope it continues to grow.
Memory is affected in SZ, but rarely to that degree. This is definitely your attention span.
I had this problem too, but by training deliberately and just getting better from my sz, it went away.
Bravo, my friend
Good job then! I’m happy for you. I also like to hit little milestones like that. I might just try to read a book, I’ll start with something simple and short.
@anon94176359 Well done . I haven’ t watched a movie right the way through for ages . I tend to be very restrictive as to what I watch on the TV i.e 85%+ crime dramas. I’ve watched episodes of various shows like CSI and NCIS umpteen times.
I’ll not continuously look at the TV. I’ll switch between looking at my laptop screen and periodically glancing at the TV.
Very good to know. I can work with improving my attention span, I wasn’t so sure about memory.
I totally love this post, because it speaks so much about my first year of schizophrenia… and all I can think; you finally getting better…
Thanks man. I think I am moving in the right direction at least
It took me awhile but since I started taking zoloft and concerta they help me focus.
I’m glad things are looking up!
