This Depixol is just not keeping me completely stable when stressed. I was told I could switch to Abilify Maintaina and after last night I’m going to go for it. I’m going to ask for an extra 5mg a day in pill form on top.
Don’t you have to try abilify pills first, before changing to injectible? That’s a risk you’re taking…
I don’t think I’ll need to as I’ve been on Abilify in the past
Oh alright then. Good luck
Good luck with it.
I tried oral Abilify for 2 months or so, 4 years before I tried the Maintena, and I still had to be put on the pills first. I think part of the reason is they want to test out your reaction yea, but also titration. BTW, the pills for me were completely different side-effect wise than the shot.

I’m on abilify pills. How was the injection different to the pill form, side effects wise?
I’m interested too
After they amped up the pills from 10 to 20 mg, my akathisia was so bad on the pills that I was pacing all waking hours, even while eating. With the shot I have little to no akathisia. Also, I got panic attacks which lasted all day pretty much for a 1-2 weeks until they subsided and I could come off benzos that I was on temporarily(I was on it the first time for about 1,5 months). Also I had muscle cramps, mainly in the abdomen, that were quite painful, nothing like that with the shot. I had some sexual dysfunction on the pills but I don’t remember if that subsided or not during the 1,5 months or if I had it when starting the shot, but I think not. The time between when I tried the pills and the shot was over 4 years (the shot was not even out yet then). The pdoc said that we had exhausted all other possibilities and the next drug would have been Clozapine, but from her experience the Maintena had been different than the pills so we took a calculated risk.
My main issue with abilify is restless and anxiety. If the injection does away with that, I’ll consider it in the future. Thanks.
