After the big argument over negative symptoms we have cleared the air. They still have a hard time understanding but relations are getting better.

Yes, my father never understand s why I can’t return phone calls
My folks got mad at me cos I only shower once a week. Dad says he has no time for people who can’t look after themselves.

Getting people close to you to understand negative symptoms is tough. They figure that once your psychosis is taken care of you should be fine. My folks don’t understand why I hole up in my apartment for weeks on end without wanting to talk to anyone. They’re educated people but are reluctant to read up on sz for some reason

that sucks, jimbob. had same argument. but when I shower, hair gets everywhere and tub gets dirty. so they prefer me not taking showers much.
no point showering, if I stay home much.
usually shower for exercise sake.
soap costs money and showers cost time.

They don’t get it. It’s something simple, even pleasurable for them. It’s more complicated and intimidating for you.
