I know 166 songs as far as I can remember so far…I thought I knew a lot more but 166 is enough that I feel proud. I guess that’s a lot right?

That’s amazing! My dad taught me how to play Love Me Tender on the guitar when he was learning but that was a real long time ago. I wouldn’t be able to play it now.

My cognition isn’t good enough to have that many songs in my repertoire. I can only play about five songs right now. Sleepers Awake by Bach, Arietta by Mozart, Little Study by Schumann, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, by Otto Harbach and Jerome Kern and Under My Skin by Cole Porter.
I forget how to play songs soon after I learn them. My cognition is very poor.

man, I used to have a Martin…sold it like all my instruments when I was married…good for you !! I hope your Martin helps you learn many more songs…I’m 55 and have played guitar since I was 14. so don’t feel bad…
I can’t memorize things anymore. So it just doesn’t stick for me. I play over and over and over, but I can’t remember. I play my French Horn and can do it because I already knew the fingerings from my adolescence, so it’s always been there for me. But the guitar is new, and I just can’t seem to pick it up. I like looking at it anyways. It’s very pretty.

@Happy_Heather keep it up !! I used to buy songbooks by my favorite artists to work out of until I memorized the songs…baby steps…don’t give up !!

yes. about half of them I only know most of the lyrics but I play enough of each song that it’s mostly done…so yes…I memorized all of them…thank you.

finally went through my spotify library and it added a bunch more songs to my list so now I have 227 songs !! that’s better…I thought I knew three hundred but I’ll take 227.
