Loss of brain tissue in SZ

How to prevent this?
There is no way of growing brain tissue back…

From https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Childhood_schizophrenia:

"The grey matter in the cerebral cortex of the brain shrinks over time in people with schizophrenia; the question of whether antipsychotic medication exacerbates or causes this has been controversial. "

From https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3565772/:

“Relative to controls, patients with schizophrenia showed a significantly higher volumetric decrease over time of whole brain gray matter, left STG, left anterior STG, left posterior STG, right posterior STG, left HG and left PT gray matter.”

Meditation. Read up on neuroplasticity. It is honestly possible to gain and in fact increase back your gray matter. I did it. I used to meditate on a daily basis and felt tingles on my brain.

It happened to me. It honestly has not affected my ability to function in a noticeable way. Staying on medication is the best way to prevent it from getting worse.

But yes, it is possible to regrow brain matter. if you can find a free version of this study (as a mod I can’t encourage pirating) it is fascinating. Alzheimer’s patients were taught to juggle, and practiced every day. After six months, their brains showed new cell growth. If they kept adding new skills, their brains kept up with this cell growth. If they stopped, their brains went back to their original state.
