That study is 5 years old. I don’t have the energy to link it, but a 2017 study by Yale showed more evidence that psychosis causes the gray matter loss and medication is protective against this effect.

It says

It is possible that this gray matter loss reflects a progressive disease process irrespective of medication use or that it is contributed to by switching to clozapine treatment. The clinical improvement of most patients indicates that antipsychotic-related gray matter volume loss may not necessarily be harmful or reflect neurotoxicity.

Also, patients who have gray matter loss do not appear to have lost and cognitive function.

I definitely believe that. I’ve been in psychosis for almost a year trying to find the right med. None work and make me suicidal

Nice. Thanks for the info. I just hear punmbmed is legit.

I’ve read from different sources both reputable that psychosis shrinks brain matter and so does antipsychotics but psychosis shrinks it faster I think, so cos antpiysochotics prevent psychosis, they are protective of brain shrinkage In people who get psychosis

Meant pubmed 1515

Pubmed is a generally reliable source, but that doesn’t mean all the information on it is up to date. Some studies are flawed, and some are later disproven by more recent studies.

I do know it’s an anticholinergic which puts you at risk for dementia
