An opinion piece
My brother suffers from schizophrenia and has anosognisia. He’s in jail/hospital right now for things he did while he was out of his mind. It’s been going on for over a decade now. Maybe there is hope. We are out of options with him and he’s fallen through every crack in the system. I sent this article to some family members. Thanks.
Wish the best for your brother. We all have hope.
This illness s u ck, but I believe in remission for everyone.
Best of luck to you too @TheSecondVariety
A very inspirational article. I couldn’t agree more. My journey to the recovery phase of schizophrenia was fueled by insight. To develop greater insight I journal every day using a structured approach based on the dialectical reasoning method that I learned in university. If anyone is interested I’d be happy to share more about my approach to insight development. In my opinion… Insight heals schizophrenia, providing there is an effective meds based treatment plan to provide a foundation of stability.
The article’s author Bethany, is a true inspiration.
Support system and financial issues can also play a large part in going untreated in my case
Absolutely @anon90598247 , I couldn’t agree more that support systems and financial issues play a large part in going untreated but the lack of insight into how to solve/navigate/manage these issues needs to be addressed with a life plan. Every schizophrenic person, including myself, needs a life plan and needs to understand the life path that they are on and the options that are open(ing) for them. I work on evolving my life plan in my journal whenever I feel I need more insight and control. Insight heals schizophrenia and out of that insight a workable life plan can be discovered. Never lose hope.
I just bought her book on Amazon. Its really good.
