I have had a lot going on this month. I had to study for my final exam, I’ve been fixing up my house to sell, Mr. Star has been working all overnight shifts, so I haven’t seen him since mid-April, and my sister has two baby showers this weekend. I have to make 50 cupcakes, marshmallow pops, and prepare several games. My brain has pretty much turned to mush by now. I have an upper limit on my capacity to handle responsibility, and I have reached it. Thankfully, I should get some breathing room after Monday evening.
I wasn’t going to share this, because it felt like complaining, but this is a support forum and I need some support. Please reassure me that I’m capable of doing all this mountain of work. I am beyond stressed right now.
I think that it’s a sin for you to complain.
There are loads of people eager to become high functioning.
I am sorry but I can’t feel you, having too much to do simply sounds too good to be true for me.
And in any case if you feel it’s too much you can always dilute the pressure by doing less.
Erez, I’ve noticed you tend to sometimes be harsh in your responses. I’m assuming this is unintentional, so I wanted to point it out to you. Please try to be little kinder in your responses.
@Ninjastar I feel sure you will be able to successfully get through the next three days and accomplish your long to-do list. Think of it as you’re nearing the finish of a marathon where you need to push yourself to cross the finish line. Victory will soon be yours and then you can take some time to catch your breath and celebrate your success.
@Moonbeam I will post only positive comments. @Ninjastar I think that you can be grateful that you are high functioning,
there are people here who can only dream of it, so along with the difficulties that you endure
you can draw a positive that your hardships stem from you being high functioning,
these are the sort of complaints that you hear from healthy people and that indicates
that your situation functioning wise is good and you can draw encouragement from that.
Maybe this sounds simplistic but can you think of any way to de-stress yourself? A warm bath? A pint of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream? Looking at your favorite videos on YouTube? Playing with pets? A trip to the park in daytime just to get some space, fresh air, and greenery? A nice chat with someone who you know will make you feel better?
Here’s a start to cheer you up. Just watch and wait, it gets good.
When I have lots to do I break it into 2 hour slots. So it’s like, ‘right what do I need to do in this next 2 hours?’ Don’t think about other future stuff. After the two hours plan the next two hours and so on.
It helps stop me getting overwhelmed. All the best
Holy potatoes you guys, I did it. Two baby showers! Now, the only thing left to do is put the offer in on the house. I feel much more capable of doing that now that everything else is out of the way.
Congratulations! I very much admire your level of functioning and your tenacity to get things done. I’m happy for you that most of your tasks are done now. Almost there
