I am doing much better than when I posted last. I have started my new job and it is giving me routine and structure and I think that’s why. Last week was just orientation, so it involved a lot of being bored sitting through PowerPoint slides in a conference room. Next week I will actually be on the floor training and I am very excited for that.
I have started participating in hobbies again. I have worked out a plan to make some positive life changes for myself.
My best advice to those who go through (clinical) depression is just to be kind to yourself when you are having episodes. I tend to beat myself up and focus on how I shouldn’t be depressed and that I should be more functional. Treat it like you have the flu. Rest as much as you need, lean on others if needed for care. Know eventually you’ll get better and the episode will end.
Glad you are doing better @Anna . I remember you posting several times about how your old job was stressing you out, so it’s good to hear that your new job is a better fit for you.
Oh I am still a psychiatric nurse! I will never leave this field. Well, eventually I’m going to be a psych nurse practitioner, but that won’t be for a little while.
