So I take latuda as one of my Ap’s and it’s giving me insomnia. Did anyone here take latuda and did it have a activating effect on you?

I take latuda and i have insomnia.
Last night I only slept one and a half hours.
For weeks I’ve only been sleeping about three hours a night.
Imovane often puts me to sleep but doesn’t keep me asleep so I may only sleep two hours on it.
I don’t know what to do.
I need more sleep.
My last psychiatrist suggested seroquel for sleep but i don’t want the extra weight gain and other side effects so I said no.
I’m afraid if I lose my sh. It from insomnia I may have to try seroquel.
What can we do?

i take lurasidone (latuda) 40mg at night for about year now and it sedates me and give me good deep sleep. never had insomnia from taking it.

Yep I couldn’t sleep on it either in the end I got the pdoc to change my AP to olanzapine. I hated how latuda made me feel.

I used to take Latuda and it made me sleep but not too much. I can’t sleep without meds and I sometimes feel that’s why I take them because I have been on them several decades.

Interesting.
If you vary the dosage you notice that the more latuda you take that it actually is sedating.
It isn’t very sedating compared to other medication.
Insomnia is common in schizophrenia anyway.
I would think it unlikely, what makes you think it’s latuda?

My pdoc said that latuda can be activating, so I googled side effects and insomnia was one of them.

I slept only 4 hours/day on Latuda. It caused me to pace and talk endlessly.

Latuda is build on Geodon and that means that it has inherited a lot of the sttributes of Geodon. I’ve never tried Latuda but I was 20 years on Geodon. And I must say that it was the culprit to insomnia in my case.

I wouldn’t necessarily characterise it as activting although, insomnia is a side effect.
You can see that it increases sleep.
You can see however that it has mixed modes of action.

I’ve been in treatment with Seroquel for 12 years and the weight issue’s first surfaced after 400 mgs. When used as a sleep aid it’s mostly prescribed in doses of 25 mg - 200 mg. I take.800 mg for mental illness. I’m some what over weight with a BMI in range(25-35) M.
