I wrote this elsewhere: It sucks. It didn’t even meet my already low expectations. If the remaining Beatles want to call it a Beatles song, it’s certainly the worst Beatles song they made. What did you think about it?

I think it’s pretty good. Can’t really expect them to sound like the Beatles form back in the day. Music has evolved. They’ve evolved. They’re just artists doing their thing. I hear chimes of the old Beatles in it. They’re old men now. The passion may have faded but I think it’s a pretty technically well written song. Nice tip of the hat for them to do that.

Did they say how they used ai? Was it in the lyrics or something? Idk why (and maybe it’s just my imagination) but I can sense the a.i. in it. I tried chat gpt to write a song and there were a lot of pretty overused tropes but also some cool new randomish ideas.

Phrases like “i know it’s true, it’s all because of you” seem kind of obvious and overused. Sort of a.i. like…or something in the processing sound a.i. ish I cant put my finger on it.

Edit: I read the article…yea they used it on his voice… I thought it sounded a.i ish

I didn’t like the song either. A disappointment.

It sounded more like a mellow John Lennon song from just before he died, than a Beatles song. Bands change over time. Examples- Fleetwood mac from a blues influenced band to an AOR band, Byrds -Folk rock and country rock. We can only guess as to which musical direction the Beatles would have taken if they’d stayed together. Hopefully they’d have ditched Phil Spector sooner rather than later. He was the worst record producer for them.

I’d rather hear songs like that than the plethora of auto tuned songs by people more photogenic than vocally talented.

Agree.

Sounds like a leftover song or outtake from Double Fantasy. The song is easy on the ears, but lacking that killer ‘hook’ or ‘punch’. The tune just kind of lies flat for me.

you guys ??? it’s unheard Beatles…I loved the song…good for John for having one in the vault these fifty something years…I loved when Nirvana released “you know you’re right” by Kurt in the vault years after his death…this is fantastic !!

I quite liked the song. Saying it was reminiscent of his ‘Double fantasy’ album wasn’t meant as a put down.
