After months of the landlord not living up to his responsibilities my mum phoned up and complained. She got real mad. The boiler was fixed this morning but the landlord mentioned he is calling round the fire safety check team because of my electrical appliances.
I have lots of tech and computers so there are lots of cables. He saw these a year ago and told me then to get surge protectors. So I spent £100 on them. Now because he is being pissy he is pulling this ■■■■.
That guy is nasty.
Thing is I don’t know who to talk to about this. Is not really my nurses job.
Is really getting me down. I know I’m not supposed to say this on here but I am getting strong urges to kill myself. I know this is silly but I feel so desperate.
I just want someone to step in and help. I can’t look after myself. The avolition is so strong. But can’t get a council house. There is no sheltered accommodation.
Thats really annoying thing.but it not end of the world.i think you can manage this situation.suicide ideas its only thing to escape from your responsibilities.it s give you relaxation but its not get better the situation.it s only take the chance of get better situation.i hope you can fix this problem asap
Please don’t hurt yourself? Suicide is a big mistake, believe me, I’ve tried twice and all it got me was shame and grief. I hope you get to find a better place to live…find hope wherever you can find it. I believe in you.
@Jimbob Sorry to hear your landlord is causing you stress, but please don’t think about harming yourself.
The fact that you’re feeling so stressed is definitely something to discuss with your pdoc or nurse. They could help you come up with coping strategies.
In terms of the fire safety check, consider it an opportunity. When the fire safety inspector reviews your setup, they’ll either conclude everything is in order, or they’ll let you know if something needs to be changed in your setup to prevent a fire hazard.
Some things the fire safety inspector might look for are:
— whether the surge protectors/power strips are adequately rated for the equipment plugged into them
— whether you have “daisy-chained” power strips which is a “no-no” (plugged a power strip into another power strip rather than directly into the wall outlet)
— the condition of the power cords of your equipment and the surge protectors (damaged power cords can be both a fire and a safety hazard)
I think your landlord is poking back at you. Doubt he even will give it a second thought. We all have surge protectors that’s what there made for. You are being safe by owning one. The problem is it seems from what little I know. Just like we all have your taking something small and making it a stressor. Maybe you should talk to your doctor. I have been a landlord and the worst thing is someone moving out and leaving you with no income for the mortgage. Think he’s just blowing a little smoke and it may soon be forgotten. Best wishes for you.
what about advocacy, its a person that speaks on your behalf for you, i have used them a bunch of times, idk if you have that where you are but i think there could be a charity that could help you with that,
If the guy is hassling you and intimidating you so much, maybe there’s some legal resource that could help you. In my area we used to have the Mental Health Advocacy Organization that gave free legal aid to mentally ill people. Or maybe you have an agency near you that deals with tenant-landlord disputes.
My advice to you in your situation is to keep your side of the street clean so you have more leverage in case it comes to a point where you absolutely have to seek outside legal help for yourself. Don’t do anything rash, or retaliate but if you have a fairly good record of being a good tenant than then that will help you down the road if this situation with your landlord keeps being un-bearable. This guy is taking advantage of you. I think you have a good case against him if you ever had to seek legal action.
Maybe you should even start documenting on paper or on your computer every incident where this jerk hassles you or treats you unfairly. This might help you down the road too.
