Lamictal experiences?

My father and me have talken to a psyquiatrist. She said that she may prescribe Lamictal after some exams are done besides upping my Abilify. I searched Lamictal side effects… And, well, I have gone insane.

Can someone tell their experience? I have this thought that I am faking and I have no mood disorder, which is a very stupid thought, It must be that we are at nigth here and I get always worse at night.

I have schizoaffective disorder, been taking Lamictal for over ten years with no problems. For me lithium, Depakote and Tegretol all had awful side effects, but no problems with Lamictal.

I have sza bipolar and am about to increase from 300 to 350. Have been slowly titrating up since you can’t increase quickly due to a black box warning.

I am getting closer to my optimal dose. I got nine amazing stable mood days after this last increase, where I actually could almost forget I struggle with hypomania so much. My psych nurse and I are planning to go to 400 but for now I have to get to 350. Have to prioritize my Invega increase first.

I adore Lamictal. Gabapentin and Topamax werent effective for me, but Lamictal is showing it will be steadily great once I hit optimal dose. Wouldn’t change mood stabilizers again. Pretty much no side effects either.

I take lamictol and topiramate as well, and have for several years now. They work very well and I have had no side effects at all.

Thanks, I hope it works. I struggle more with depression than hypomania.

I’ve been on it for years. If you get that instead of lithium or depakote, be grateful. I’m much better off with it than without it. I sleep better with it.

Nietzsche told a friend who visited him in a mental hospital that he sometimes felt he was faking his insanity.

I would like to add feeling like faking it or malingering is very common. I feel like a faker myself. I’m on Invega injection.

I have sza bi polar type and have not had highs and lows for a month now without a mood stabilizer. I had been on Latuda which was an AP and mood stabilizer. I guess my pdoc wasn’t thinking. She’s so busy, she has too many patients. We need to put more money in mental health services in this country when shootings are practically a daily occurrence.

Good luck @CMBS87

I was talking to my new psychiatrist today and he recommended Lamictal. I have been on it before, but stopped i before i could find out if it worked.

I can’t remember i had any side effects on lamictal and i am willing to try it again.

My problem is that i can be very happy, and then suddenly deeply depressed. Take care if they recommend lithium, in my view it’s a dangerous drug.

Maybe Made me enjoy playing video games a little more maybe back when I took it. A little more talkative and open with people but felt pretty shallow. I have schizoaffective didn’t really do much for the anxiety or any negative symptoms

I’ve taken lamictal for around a year. I’m on 200mg. No problems with it at all.

It helps balance out my depressive swings.
