Lack of motivation

Is a lack of motivation a sign of negative sz symptoms?

Yes, either that or depression.

My motivation comes and goes lately, not sure why, today I feel motivated, all weekend I slept

I think that the psych meds are a big contributing factor as well.
I am just completely zapped of all energy! :weary:

@Grace_Mercy @Wave @Mountainman so itā€™s more the meds than a negative symptom?

Might be meds a bit as I got my shot on friday and was tired all weekend

It could be a combination of things.
Negative symptoms from the disorder, and could be from the meds too.
Sometimes depression is also a factor.

Now, it is argued that sz causes this lack of motivation, but if you take a dopamine antagonist (ap) which inhibits dopamine then you are more than likely to feel a lack of motivation.

So is it the sz or the ā€˜cureā€™ for it?

It is proven that dopamine is life and a lack of it causes multiple side effects: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/320637.php

The thing is when doctors see a sz in full blown psychosis they have already weighed up that a depressed, zombie like person is a preferable choice to the ā€œmanic and madā€ individual. It is not that they donā€™t care the person is depressed, it is just that they would rather they were that to a ā€˜crazedā€™ person.

It is easier to control a passive, quiet person than one who has delusions of grandeur and is difficult to manipulate, especially if they have grand delusions that could cause harm to themselves or another person.

So, the end result is a stifled individual who lives a life of passivity, and is often depressed with anhedonia, lowered IQ, drug induced fatness, akathisia and diet induced diabetes.

Dopamine is key to happiness and a reduction of it inevitably leads to the opposite. They often blame it on the disease, but i beg to differ. A lack of dopamine will cause unhappiness and countless other negative consequences. It is a fact!

The question of your own sanity and functionality without meds is the question one should ask, as the doctors already have done by medicating you (Us).

Me from personal experience when I stop taking the meds I become manic and have a lot of energy. When I get back on meds I feel lethargic and lack of energy.

@labratmat I manage to be content on my sz meds. But I do take an antidepressant

I feel drugged when I take meds honestly.

I think for me itā€™s a combo of the antipsychotic meds and negative symptoms of schizophrenia.

i need respect and then i will be happier. also, i need a true real life friend.

also, i need a supportive home atmosphere which my mom is too ill to deliver on. even though i am 60 years old i still need some support.

for me, it ainā€™t the meds thatā€™s the problem. its my life.

I am trying to change things but itā€™s hard. I have started going to a group which lasts another 6 weeks. I might continue it if they let me.

I was going to volunteer as an online support worker for the same charity, but I couldnā€™t make the interview. I think at this stage that might be too much to do for now.
