Knowledge vs Experience

I just think you haven’t got a great pdoc.

If you can look for someone else.

In Belgium you are able to choose you’re own pdoc.

I’ve had to switch twice and on both occasions it was an improvement,

All my previous pdocs never talked or asked me about negative symptoms. They only care about positive symptoms and that I am not a danger to myself or to others. They don’t care about my life quality. I guess they can’t do anything for negative symptoms as even scientists know nothing about them. I took wellbutrin it didnt help but ldopa did.

I’m sorry your pdocs don’t care about negative symptoms.

I’ve had a different experience with them.

Negatives are perfect example of diff between knowledge and rxperience. Laziness is prob negatives even in norm people because low dopamine. Dr never really experiened it.

100% not the case.

You’re dead wrong.

This convo got stupid

My former best friend once said to me about what I’m told is a delusion
“but why don’t you know it’s untrue when you’ve been diagnosed with a mental illness?”

She was actually saying it with anger. She was mad at me for believing it.

So no. I don’t think others understand

I don’t think I got my original post clear enough.

It was very misunderstood pretty much right off the bat.

I think that psychiatrists or at least case workers in psychiatric field who have done many many years, decades of their job, have got some understanding if they are good at their job: listen actively, observe attentively etc.

I don’t think they can necessarily know 100 percent what it’s like because they don’t experience for example the change in ‘atmosphere’ in the mind that accompanies delusions etc. And many of us if not all, don’t open up fully.

My case worker was asking the right questions and responding to me appropriately I think he was a good case worker,

I agree that family tend to see more though, physically

I flagged but mod is asleep at the switch

Yeah,

They’re allowed to do stuff other than the forum.

It used to be hidden pretty immediately if anyone flagged it.

Was only like that for a short time.

The mods didn’t even have to be around.

That system worked well.

I don’t know why it changed.

I don’t know if my opinion is welcome, but I do think certain mental illness are poorly understood by anyone. Something like depression is more easily understood and relatable. Only people who have experienced certain things truly know and understand.

The professionals don’t understand unless they experienced it first hand.

They know how to treat SZ clinically but don’t truly understand it

Tbh, I even think that sz can’t fully understand each other’s psychosis cos no one is in the others head and understands the intensity or trauma consequences, and I also don’t think many ppl like to open up fully about it.

Well, this is one of their main tasks-to convince them that they do not exist…

I realize you may be ill right now,

But please stop.

You’re going to get my thread closed.

Additionally,

You are wrong.

No, no, I don’t want to disturb your peace of mind…

I have schizophrenia.

There is never peace of mind.

But there are facts.
