You must really hate food.

Its been difficult, it got worse maybe because Im in my 30’s but my health is improving I just cant give up now. I was doing the keto diet (no bread, no processed sugar or sweets) mostly eggs, turkey and avacado and gluten free food an occasional banana and certain oatmeals, no dairy, only oat milk. No soy. That had my health improving rapidly. I lost 50 pounds. I’ve gained that weight back recently, havent been using my bipap as much and started smoking cigarettes again also am having difficulty managing the food because I no longer have a kitchen so I have to be more careful of what I purchase and cant prepare eggs or anything so I have to go to the local diners for breakfast and lunch.

It can be done, hopefully I can survive living here. I did use my bipap last night because my energy was so low I was worried. Great videos feeling motivated.

A high fat, high protein diet doesn’t treat schizo. Better to stick with an Mediterranean diet

I think the articles against keto are scaremongering and silly, and are drowned out by the positive anecdotal stories. If you are metabolically unhealthy then not eating carbs is the way to go if you can stick with it.

Good luck @labratmat!

Yes, i agree wholeheartedly.

I was wondering perhaps whether some catastrophising was going on here too, as the person posting the anti keto vibes eats ultra processed foods, vapes and doesn’t exercise at all either? A clean keto diet would probably be beneficial if that is the case anyway @everhopeful If a few articles of keto problems strikes fear in the heart, what would the realities of AP usage be if the true results were widely publicised?

In reality, I wonder how many people died from med caused cardiovascular and metabolic issues in the last year alone and how many people have died from a keto diet actually compares? I bet AP metabolic issues dwarfs the keto deaths!

Also, I will be getting most of my fats from fish, eggs, tofu, oils, nuts, flax seed, hemp seeds etc, and avocados rather than relying on saturated fats all the time, taking a multivitamin to meet dietary requirements, exercising. I already don’t smoke, vape or drink.

Increasing my exercise is my plan too. I have some weights to work out with. I will be staying on meds for the mean time and hope to gradually decrease them over the years. That will be up to the psych of course.

Improving quality of life outweighs living long miserably sick life for some. Think about treatment resistant schizophrenia patients whose entire life could turn around due to such intervention. But risks will be there.

You can start with small things like getting rid of processed foods and added sugar things.

I am sure you can get fried eggs or omelettes in diners. But we can see how not having your own place can affect things.

I can’t do keto it’s very difficult or actually, impossible for me. My body needs more carbohydrate to function, not the keto amount.

Started keto yeserday. According to google it take 2-4 days to enter ketosis.

Started with bacon and eggs, huel protein (Black edition) 50g and 50 g of dessicated coconut, 3 chicken thighs roasted in olive oil, olive oil. keto milk in tea.

Today I started with a huel black edition shake with cocconut, avocado and baby leaf spinach with olive oil for lunch, chicken thighs for dinner and sardines in olive oil as a snack.

Keeping to 25g of carbs for the two days, so far.

No sign of ketosis yet, but a couple more days should do it.

Exercising by squatting with weights, press ups, bicep curls and 6000 steps.

Lots of water…

It can take up to a month to get used to ketosis. So hang in there.

Had a little bit of a problem with the avocado. I gagged a few times but just managed to keep it down. :face_vomiting:
I haven’t tried to eat one since I was a kid. I was hoping my palate had improved since then, but alas no.

Sardines were scrumptious on the other hand. :yum:

Thanks for posting so many studies. I, too, have decided to restart today. I know it helps me. It’s just difficult to stick with. I love avocades, that at least is a good start.

Hurray hurray, I think I’m already in ketosis. Maybe the switching goes faster because I already did it a couple of times. I also just quit carbs completely to get into it faster, e.g. a dinner of just animal products. And a bit of fasting.

I was in extremely low mood. Now I’m feeling better. It has this weird light-switch effect. I hope this lasts. Still keeping the placebo effect in mind. And the hypomania that comes with starting up keto (which is nice, for a change).

How is your dieting going?

I hate eating almost only meat and fish. But I like being more hopeful and pleasant to be around. So. Meat and fish it will be. :woman_shrugging:

Bicep curls 2x 30

Steps 6000 to do today.

Feeling good. Lost 0.15g even though constipated.

Nice. Keep up with it. The first time the switching was harder for me and took a few days. I lost quite a bit of weigth the last time. For me, my mood and physical symptoms make clear when I’m in ketosis…I’m not doing keto strips…maybe I should. To know better what levels of carbs I can handle.

Oh how I’d love to have stilton cheese. I’m dairy intolerant, so I’m doing keto with extra challenges. I’m craving everything milk and cheese and icecream and all that at the moment. Maybe I should ask a dietician for help, nobody really guides me with the dieting.

I use carb manager app to track everything I eat. It breaks the protein fat carb ratio of everything that you put in it. It is free but there is a premium version. It measures if it is keto friendly etc.

It is a no brainer and easy to use.

My old keto strips have spoiled so have ordered some more off ebay. It will be a few days.

Nice. I will check if I can find an app. I’m instructing everyone around me to keep me within the limits of the diet AND tell me if I get too hyper. I’m hoping things will balance out well.
