Karxt negative symptoms

Hello. A Professor said to me that karxt has no effects on negative symptoms. Is it true?

KarXT scored higher than placebo for negative symptoms. A little more than double the score if I remember correctly. It was modest but there was improvement.

The reality is that until there is clinical experience we cannot say anything. We don’t know what the life of a person taking KarXT is like yet.

EmerGENT-3 PANSS drop from KarXT -20.6 Placebo -12.2 Difference from placebo -8.4
The results in Emergent 1 and 2 were slightly better.
As per Matsblog of Japan
The effect size was superior to Zyprexa or Risperdal in the 3 trials.

It’s similar to a compound called Betel Nut which is a mildly stimulating but chewed in Asian countries. It has some effect on that stuff but no I wouldn’t say it directly gets rid of negative symptoms

The effect size, a measure of med diff vs placebo diff, KarXT was a little better than Zyprexa or Risperdal, not as good as Clozaril or Amulsipride. There were digestive side effects with KarXT for some.

The issue is that the scale also takes negative symptoms.

So, for positive symptoms, the actual drop, compared to Risperidone, may be smaller.

So, the medication may be slightly effective for positive symptoms and slightly effective for negative symptoms, but not significantly effective for either. Think of Fanapt.

Please illuminate if my understanding is incorrect.

The PANSS drop of KarXT might be partially a drop in negatives. It might be superior to the other 2 meds for negatives, maybe similar for positives, to guess.
Overall, I think Fanapt has a much lower effect size than the other 3.The PANSS drop of KarXT -20.6, the drop for Fanapt about -8, not comparing these to placebo.
