All the forum hate towards it, got me pessimistic about it truth be told. But I’m sure it’ll definitely pave the way for different treatments that don’t make you tired or weak all the time.

That being said; from what I gather about the mechanism - it may have a muscles rigidity/weakness profile to it. But don’t quote me as accurate because I’m not a scientist or doctor of course !

Is it supposed to help with negative symptoms?:thinking::thinking:

Yes apparently so 15151515151515

That would be great. I’m skeptical though. :dotted_line_face::dotted_line_face::dotted_line_face:

Moved to Medications because Karxt is a medication.

I don’t get the hate for new medicines really, it’s like those people still think that ancient methods of treating our disorder is better than novel ones…

Personally I switched from risperidone to abilify, my brain still work a bit slower than a normal person but it’s good enough for me to be able to work at a 9-5 corporate white collar job, able to have sexual desires compared to being a zombie and can’t think clearly on risperidone…

Do people really think there won’t be progress in science? Are you guys happy being fat, lazy, emotionless, pacing left and right every 5 minutes and a ton of other side effects?

some of the companies hide the side effects, i will admit i think risperdal is better than haldol for me. i might try vraylar if i relapse before karxt but im cleaning my house today, im extremely excited to make a slight dent in it. i cleaned the counters and stuff

I hope it comes to Canada.

When will it be available ?

Worried greatly about thid

Does it act on the same receptors as CBD?

it acts on the muscarinic receptor, im hoping to jump right back into school when that comes out

This video talks about some of the differences between stimulating the M1 receptor vs stimulating the M4 receptor. In theory agonizing the M1 receptor activates hypofunctional gaba interneurons in the frontal cortex. This may reduce excessive glutamate release and increase dopamine production in the mesocortical pathway possibly alleviating negative symptoms.

Preach. it’s even worse on Reddit. People won’t even entertain the idea that any new drug might improve there lives. On one hand I get the skepticism. Especially for people who have had the disease for decades and decades. They’ve seen so many hype cycles that never panned out. On the other hand people don’t seem to understand exponentials. Things like moores law and the like. I think AI is about to supercharge scientific R&D. I think in a few years the tone around these types of conversations is going to change dramatically. Things are gonna start to moving so quickly that people will start to believe that they might just out live this horrible disease.

im going to be honest, some people cant change medicines so maybe science didnt progress. it could be a massive con, but i think science progressed, it might just be my xanax but i feel like im on a focus medication right now

Not everyone has the same severity of the illness…its more likely that people who have never taken drugs, cigarettes and alcohol or having a strong family history before wound up needed less potent medicines

I don’t see anyone claiming lobotomies are better than our current treatment.

I mean I’m not surprised some people believe this, out of the other medical fields psychiatry advances at a much slower rate to which is understandable considering we don’t know much about the brain.

I wonder how insurance will cover this new medication?
