I’m about to start taking clozapine after many different medications. My psychiatrist says it’s a game changer but the side effects and regular blood tests have me a hit concerned. Would love to hear from people who are on it to give me their opinions

Hi I had one psychiatrist that said the side effects are worse at higher doses. I’m taking 300mg and I don’t have a lot of side effects. But i think some people can get more side effects from it. Im also taking 200mg docusate because my stool hardened some. I sleep a little extra also I find it harder to wake up in the morning.
It is a good med. You get used to the blood tests. 
Clozapine didn’t like me. In week one I kept passing out. Don’t be scared it’s worth a try
That’s good to know, I’m not sure what I’ll be starting on but I’ve always had very high dosages throughout my treatment. I remember being on 800mg of Quetiapene when I was on that
I’m used to having blood taken and intravenous meds just not sure if I want it once a week

Ok thanks, fingers crossed it works well. I just need to make sure I can work effectively whilst taking the meds

Same here, it’s tough meeting that med/schizo/work balance lol
After awhile the blood tests go to once a month. 
Yeah that’s good, fingers crossed it all works out well. If it really is the game changer my psych says then a needle in the arm every now and again is totally worth it. It’s just I’ve got blood problems as it is, don’t want to add to that
Ive been on Clozapine for years. It has been very good for me. You get used to the blood tests. Good luck.

I’m on a very high dose of it.
It kind of muffles things just be careful to stay on it, I go crazy even missing one day of it.

I’m on clozapine, 400mg at night. Only medicine that has worked well for me, hope it helps you.

i am on clozaril for 12 years! It was a game changer for me! it is the only medication that has worked for me!
I’ve been taking it for more than 2 years.
No side effects except drooling
it’s a good med for me. not too many side effect except for drooling and hard to hold up my pee.
it really helped me. I hope it will help you too =)

I stopped it cuz i was always drooling at the mouth and was constantly sleepy.
Good med but works different for everyone.
