Has anyone tried N Acetyl Tyrosine and just regular Tyrosine? Can you tell the difference?

Has anyone tried N Acetyl Tyrosine and just regular Tyrosine? Can you tell the difference?
I tried L Tyrosine. It’s good stuff, pretty stimulating. 500mg does the job for about 4 hours
Have you tried Adderall or Modafinil?
I quit taking Tyrosine a while a go. I got it out of the closet and took a pill. Didn’t realize how important it was.
You do realise that schizophrenia is caused by excess dopamine? You do realise the APs that people take block dopamine?
Yeah I was thinking about that. I will do just about anything to improve focus, concentration and motivation. Nobody has told me it’s dangerous to take a dopamine supplement.
A little dopamine here and there never hurt nobody. Schizophrenics like to smoke, smoking increases dopamine.
I just found this for Risperdal.
Maybe when the antipsychotics block the dopamine it’s really low. Then when you take L-Tyrosine it’s at normal levels.
Adderall affects a lot of dopamine In a way that’s likely to make sz’s psychotic. I know fro
Personal experience that my adderall caused or made my issues worse when I was getting sick. Never tried modafinil but I know there’s a less frequent (but still valid) risk of being psychotic on it bc it doesn’t affect the same kind of dopamine receptors.
Interesting fact I’d like to share tho is that I take vyvanse daily and that affects dopamine- not exactly in the same way as adderall tho bc I think it doesn’t have the d-amphetamines. I have had ABSOLUTELY no mental issues related to my sz that is exacerbated by the vyvanse. It’s so weird I just only wish I was always on vyvanse and not adderall bc then I might not even have sz but that’s reallt up for debate. On top of that I take L-tyrosine with it (on top of my medicine that blocks dopamine) and I have no issues. I do it bc I’m already at a dopamine deficit bc the other meds and it helps too bc I’ve been coming off invega and it causes so many problems to ur brain in terms of blocking and almost anihilating the parts of ur brain that even make dopamine (that and even ur pituitary glad n stuff). And I have no issues. I bet if I were on adderall and my dopamine blocker I’d still hear voices but just not be delusional. But that’s just my opinion. So yea
I was on Ritalin and antipsychotics. It wasn’t the best combo because I had a lot of weird thoughts. I’ve never heard of vyvanse. I feel pretty good after taking the Tyrosine.
So antipsychotics block dopamine, which turns to epinephrine, which turns to norepinephrine. I think by the time it gets to norepinephrine there’s nothing left.
Funny u say that bc when I was 18 I was first prescribed Ritalin and I was smoking weed with friends at the time and I got paranoid which I never really did. Coulda been the combination but I think it’s really just that only certain stimulants work on certain people. I couldn’t handle Ritalin and I didn’t like vyvanse for really long. So I bet Ritalin would have the same effect as adderall on me now a days. But I hear u on the weird thoughts thing. It’s also hard bc the way the stimulants work is that when u have a thought u just pursue it to any end so it makes u more delusional just bc it makes u pursue that whole tangent to all ends instead of scoffing it off. I’m sure it’s hard to keep a concrete mind with our issues but for me vyvanse has had no effect even on my thought. I just pay more attention and feel more engaged that’s it. It also used to make me feel great but with my dopamine blockers I notice none of that. Any controlled substance feels like nothing to me which is whatever but basically I have no risk for addiction these days…
Sounds like good stuff @anon20742722
In at least one other area of the brain, we have too little dopamine, though.
Dopamine is addictive. Smoking causes cancer and cardiovascular disease. Now please tell me how the fact that a lot of people with sz smoke proves that dopamine never hurt anyone?
Have you thought about reducing supplements and not increasing them? You could be getting interactions.
I’ve got my core supplements and I’m going to still try new ones. If I don’t like it I will just stop taking it. NAC has been a miracle drug for me for my mind control thoughts. Maybe there’s something out there like that for focus, concentration and attention.
So you want to improve your cognition by adding a supplement that counteracts the therapeutic effects of your medicine? I think you should reconsider this, or at least ask your doctor first. APs work mostly by lowering dopamine signalling in the brain. If a dopamine-boosting supplement were to help, it would need to specifically target the few areas where we already have too little dopamine. I’m pretty sure this one doesn’t. And there are APs that don’t work as much on dopamine as the others. Seroquel is one, if I recall correctly. And Abilify is a partial agonist/antagonist, meaning it increases and decreases dopamine at the same time. If your problem is too little dopamine, switching APs or lowering the dose after consulting with your doctor is probably a better approach.
Is it safe to higher epinephrine and norepinephrine @anon9798425 . I eat a lot of food that increases dopamine so I guess that’s different.
Why do you think medicated szs lack motivation? Is it the disease or lack of dopamine?
Taking nicotine, l theanine, nac or any other drug improves it, but the question is whether taking it at the same time as meds causes positive symptoms? The meds deplete us. do the supplements increase it?
Without the ‘supplements’, most of us would be sitting as medicated vegetables, through mediicated blocked dopamine. No wonder we look for a way out. I choose a med free way with meditation that also rises dopamine levels, others use drugs.
Some people have a problem with meditation because it raises dopamine and makes them psychotic, so would supplements.
So tough ■■■■ eveybody, modern dopamine antagonists help stop sz (and that is the only way they now how at the moment) and supplements help alieviate that dopamine depleted life. What can you live wiith? dopamine or a subset of dopamine?
The fact is you learn to live with a depleted dopamine mind with meds, and for some that is still ok. The reality is depression and cognitive impairment, which they call the illness, or for some is the illness anyway.
