Just realised I say ‘man’ a lot

In fact most of my posts start with ‘man you should have seen this etc etc’

I actually do that a lot as well. I find myself saying “man” to people a lot if I talk to someone, even old men.

In spoken conversation I add ‘like’ to the end of my sentences a lot.

I say “man” a lot in my conversation too. It really dates me as a 70’s person.

What about using dude?

I say it too. This reminds me of a book that was read to my class in the school library in elementary school. The book was called “The Um Jar” and it was about a kid who said “um” too much in his speech. It was didactic and I don’t remember much about the plot other than that. I think the goal was to stop some of us from saying um as a bad habit.

Never even noticed it.

I did a fair bit of communication at uni and picked up a lot of stuff. Most english is redundant. You don’t need most of it to show meaning. The rest is social. That stuff is important.

Mate. I don’t find it any different you starting stuff with Man. I overlook that and just get a message from you. If anything I find it endearing and haven’t even noticed it!

I like to use ! and Start posts with So! For some reason I just like to talk and think that a ! will convey my nuances through the internet.

Your not the only one matey1

I always notice I use words that seem to have no point in a sentence. I think it is because I am from Yorkshire. Do not have the accent any more though. I use words like ‘right’ or ‘like’ for no reason at all.

I did this also when I was younger. Sometimes I still say this in my mind. What I also got stuck on was the german word ‘Alter’ and the polish ‘Kurwa’. Now I neither say one of those. Maybe because I’m so isolated.

When I use it I’m copying Bart Simpson.
