In fact most of my posts start with ‘man you should have seen this etc etc’
I actually do that a lot as well. I find myself saying “man” to people a lot if I talk to someone, even old men.
In spoken conversation I add ‘like’ to the end of my sentences a lot.
Man, that’s man okay man, you’re man a good man and it’s man a man no man big man deal man. That was alot of work just so you know. @anon94176359
I say “man” a lot in my conversation too. It really dates me as a 70’s person.
I’m a 70s child as well @SkinnyMe.
I say it a lot but less so than in my past.
I say dude and yeah a lot. I wonder if it’s just a new generation thing
What about using dude?
I say it too. This reminds me of a book that was read to my class in the school library in elementary school. The book was called “The Um Jar” and it was about a kid who said “um” too much in his speech. It was didactic and I don’t remember much about the plot other than that. I think the goal was to stop some of us from saying um as a bad habit.
Ooooooooolaloola, there you go, again… being extra kind. You rock!
Yeah man I say that a lot too dude
I say sweet a lot. Meaning cool.
Just alternate between man and dude
Never even noticed it.
I did a fair bit of communication at uni and picked up a lot of stuff. Most english is redundant. You don’t need most of it to show meaning. The rest is social. That stuff is important.
Mate. I don’t find it any different you starting stuff with Man. I overlook that and just get a message from you. If anything I find it endearing and haven’t even noticed it!
I like to use ! and Start posts with So! For some reason I just like to talk and think that a ! will convey my nuances through the internet.
Your not the only one matey1
Man suits you, man!
Man, that’s a bummer, man.
I think we have the same sense of humor. Man.
I say “bruv” alot - as in cheers “bruv” thanks for that. And sometime “innit mate” - i cringe when i hear myself say it. I sound like a chav! lol
I always notice I use words that seem to have no point in a sentence. I think it is because I am from Yorkshire. Do not have the accent any more though. I use words like ‘right’ or ‘like’ for no reason at all.
I did this also when I was younger. Sometimes I still say this in my mind. What I also got stuck on was the german word ‘Alter’ and the polish ‘Kurwa’. Now I neither say one of those. Maybe because I’m so isolated.
When I use it I’m copying Bart Simpson.
