Just did the Abilify injection, having mixed feelings

I got back from my appointment with the pdoc a few minutes ago and am kinda freaking out about the decisions I made there.

Beforehand, I was 100% not going to do the injection because I felt like I was experiencing anxiety as a side effect,

And because I don’t want all of my symptoms to go away.

To my surprise, I did it. He asked if I wanted to do the injection and I just said yes. Its done.

Additionally, my records came in over the last week and he said I need to go in their out patient program starting pretty effing soon. He doesn’t want me to freak out when the medicine starts working and thinks I’d be better off in a controlled environment.

I’m all for not stabbing someone, but not happy about a partial hospitalization.

Oy vey! Its been a weird day and its only 9:30am.

Does everyone feel like this is a normal approach he’s taking?

Well done. You’ve made the right decision in my opinion.

Anxiety is over hyped. You can get meds to counteract it. I’m on abilify 15mg pills. I just take L-theanine to counteract anxiety and it works like a charm. L-theanine is available over the counter.

Get regular blood tests though. Abilify can raise your blood sugar. I’m on metformin for that.

I experience no side effects from l-theanine or metformin.

I think outpatient sounds like a very good idea. When the meds start working, your world gets very different. It’s good to experience that in a safe place. I’m really excited for you. I hope this works awesomely.

I was on Abilify injection and it made me better within a week. I became calmer, more focused, more alert.
That injection is a lifesaver and I will go back to it in case of emergency.

I hope you feel better soon. I take 450 mg L Theanine when I wake up and another 450 around 2 pm mixed with sarcosine.

The only side effect I got from Abilify was the strange laziness, I slept like 9-10 hours a day and had some problems finishing tasks like washing the dishes. Maybe it is my illness or maybe it is Abilify, not sure.

Keep us posted and well done!

Did it make you gain weight?

No, I lost all the bloating I had gotten from Latuda so my body became more compact but I dieted for like 3-4 months without exercise and my weight was stuck as it is.

Actually I have the same problem to this day, strange as my clothes fit better but I am not losing weight or losing body fat.

If you notice you are snacking a lot, it means it will make you gain weight.

I get the same injection every month, no weight gain, I hardly eat though), It is a good med for me

That’s another thing.

Abilify gives me the munchies UNLESS I take a B-complex. Then there’s no problem. I found through trial and error that a low powered b-complex works best. By low powered I mean one that has just 100% rda of vitamins.

This is the exact b-complex I take

High powered b-complexes seemed to interact with abilify and gave me chest pressure.

I just started an injection too last week. (Paliperidone) I know your feeling. Afterwards I felt that way. I even called my nurse. Now I feel OK and know it’s better alternative for me than medication.

Well done. The first one must be the hardest.

I get my 2nd on Wednesday and then each month.

Take care and all the best with this.
