Just checked the price of going private

Almost £5000… is it worth it. Probably not right now. I’ll wait for the referral.

That’s expensive!

Our treatment is mainly medication based, private sector won’t offer different kind of meds

This is for autism assessment where I won’t be given meds. I mean I can’t spend that much money and I don’t have it. That’s something I can’t afford and need to save for.

£5000 for an autism assessment sounds like a total rip off.

I also think that there isnt any meaningful autism treatment that had been shown to be effective

That price is insane for an assessment. It must be that they don’t really want to do assessments! That’s the only reason to charge that much

This is private at Harley street (lots of medical clinics on this street) the prices there are usually very high

@anon25873142 - I was told before that a private assessment is not always recognised by the NHS. They may only accept their own assessments

That was what I was told 4 years ago before they put me forward for an NHS assessment…

Might have changed, but not had any reason to really look since

In Nottinghamshire I was seen pretty quick for my autism assessment. I have Autistic traits that is written down in my notes but not a formal Diagnosis. 5K does seem a lot.

Why is it £5k that’s like nearly 3 months wages of a cleaner. Awfully steep price.

It’s only £300 to see a clinical psychologist a hour where I am, that is expensive. How many hours does one need for a ASD assessment?

Can you do it in an EU country? It should still be valid…

I did not know that . I won’t book this and hold off. I can wait a few more months as I’ve waited this long already.

I work part time so it’s probably more than 3 months of my wages.
