just asking for your thoughts.

hi. im gonna keep this as brief as i can. i have been going in and out of psychotic states for the past 5/6 years. im 20 now and its not getting better, just different. the first time this occured was when i was around 15 weighing around 85kg (i was pretty fat). i lost around 35 kg in a month because “all the food was getting into my lungs” then over the years i have believed that i was related to greek gods, i was the devil, i was a reincarnation of very reprehensible historical figures etc. i am now just this year actually realizing that i need serious help but iknow that i have to wait at least a year to actually get tested and recieve a diagnosis. my question now is, what can i do to help myself in the meantime while waiting? what can i do to try to minimise my troubles?

Why? I don’t understand. If you’re 20 you should get a referral from your family doctor to a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist will then diagnose and treat you.

over here we have a long waiting list, if you get on the list your lucky to be able to see a psychiatrist in 8 months.

Oh geez. Ok, I’m not sure what country you’re in. But if that’s the case you need to get the ball rolling then.

Get that referral asap.

Can you go inpatient at hospital? They will help you right away

Take fish oil. That’s really the only thing with science behind it that says it can slow or prevent conversion to full blown schizophrenia.

https://www.nature.com/articles/ncomms8934

Here we report the longer-term efficacy of a 12-week intervention with fish oil capsules (providing omega-3 PUFAs, that is, 700 mg of eicosapentaenoic acid and 480 mg of docosahexaenoic acid daily)

im not sure, i didnt know that existed.

Welcome @SeW0lff

Meds help, maybe if you go off the deep end get some emergency help. Sounds like you’ve been riding this out for awhile. Would of been nice to get help sooner, but at least you’re getting help now. I was lost like a year or 2’off the deep end and didn’t know what was going on. The pills helped some. I just had to admit I was sick and stop believing that I can just out think my distorted thoughts. Now when it comes to distorted thoughts I just watch them pass by, I don’t entertain them. They still bother me sometimes. I just treat myself and take a day to relax and cut out all stimuli till I’m up again. We all have an idea to some extent what you’re going through. Hang in there and go on the forum for support. Sometimes just lurking and reading posts makes you feel included and less alone with your illness. Try to have a good day today.
