By back is injured. I’ve done plenty of back breaking work in my life but if I had to do it for even one day now it would put me in a wheelchair for life. Nothing is worth that. Just sayin’.
Do you guys have employment agencies in your area? Employment agencies can be a good route to go in a job search. Basically they do most of the work in a job search. You fill out a job application in their office and give them your resume if you have one and they basically do the job hunting for you. You tell the agency your interests and capabilities and what you are good at and they try to find and contact employers in your vicinity who are looking for someone like you.
These agencies often have business connections with employers who regularly fill positions using the agency. Anyways, you can use agencies and simultaneously keep looking for work on your own and even use multiple employment agencies.
In my area in California we even have employment agencies who specialize in finding work for disabled people. I’ve used these type of agencies several times and they found me employment. In fact I used the same agency twice to find jobs and I was successful. The beauty of agencies is that instead of driving all over town submitting applications which quite frankly can be grueling, you just let the agency do all the job hunting for you and you just go to interviews that you have the very best chance at getting hired who are looking for someone like you to hire. The one I used did much more than just do a job search for me and other clients.
They helped me write up a resume, they did standard intensive vocational tests on me in which I wrote down my strengths, my weaknesses, my employment history, my type of personality, my beliefs, my education, my potential and then they entered it in their computers and printed out a form showing what jobs I would be best suited for out of hundreds of job fields.
This disabled agency also posted job openings every day on the wall for clients to read and put out an applications for them. Again, this may all be moot for your job search but maybe it will help someone else reading it. The disabled agency assigned me a counselor who I who worked with me individually. The agency even took me to a store and let me pick out a $100 worth of nice clothes and shoes to wear in job interviews which they payed for!! This is probably rare in job agencies but it was pretty cool for me.
It might be worth it to go online to do a search to see if there are any agencies in your area like this.
