Janis Joplin was a babe

I used to have a huuuuge crush on her

What a voice

I’ve listened to every song she’s ever made many times.

Too bad janis, Jimi and Jim died so young

All j’s all left handed with white lighters in their pockets, all 27, all died of drugs, all revolutionary

Is this about Janis Joplin???

Good song nonetheless

I heard a story, Jim Morrison had an infatuation with Joplin, they got drunk together but he was an angry drunk and she smashed a bottle of southern comfort on his head

It is. He wishes now it hadn’t been been so dismissive at the end, he cared about her quite a bit.

I was sitting on a log in the park and someone smashed a wine bottle over my head from behind. It was kind of funny because it didn’t even hurt.

Lol when was this?

Before you were born probably, lol. It happened in the late eighties.

Were you drunk and/or high lol and that’s why it didn’t hurt? Yeah I was born in 1990. 90’s baby woooo.

When I first went to AA 6 years ago I thought “How the heck can people be sober longer than I’ve been alive.” I couldn’t even comprehend the idea of sobriety, I just thought it was normal to drink and do drugs. I was put in AA 2 years after I smoked my first joint…a year and a half after my first beer…and it was all a shock to me. It’s still kinda incomprehensible that people could be getting sober before I was born for some reason, but now I understand why they do it.

You like the hardcore chicks I guess, lol. She’s not my type but I felt sorry for her. She had a difficult life and she had a lot of demons to deal with.

Gracie Slick and Janis Joplin are a toss-up for me. Gracie Slick has grown on me as the years go on. I have my dads old vinyls and “Crown of Creation” is my favorite of them all. Jefferson Airplane was cool. San Fransisco was the heart of rock and roll outside of the British invasion.

Well, you’re probably right. I’m not sure.
San Francisco was most certainly the heart of the hippie culture. I was staying in San Fransisco in 1970 with my family a year after the “Summer of Love”

Yeah Haight Ashbury or whatever that neighborhoods called. @moonbeam would know

but yeah san fran had all the hippie bands

today i was talking to my dad about how my psychiatrist told me he did LSD in the 60’s and 70’s and how he went to woodstock and my dad sarcastically said “there was LSD at woodstock?” and then he started going on a rant about the brown acid. Lol.

my dad was a hippie and probably did LSD but he didn’t go over the top with it like i did

Yeah, I visited there once or twice in the-eighties During it’s heyday many people in other countries knew about it too. I remember reading about George Harrison visiting it during the sixties. He had heard of it and wanted to check it out for himself. It was apparently a major disappointment. He expected to see the streets covered with flower children
and peace loving hippies and young idealists trying to make the world a better place and marijuana smokers laughing and talking everywhere. The reality seemed to be much worse. He said that it was dirty and it was a lot of junkies passed out on stoops. And shady looking people kind of standing around. There were some hippies there but it was not the peaceful, fun looking place it was made out to be.

It went from hippie to junkie in just a year or two. George probably got there 2 months too late.

@Twang

It seems it was the government’s plan to get the hippies into dope trouble. Whenever there was a major peace endeavor, the government made sure to it that the supply of narcotics was heavy.

Joplin was too insecure for psychedelics she said…they made her uneasy. I could believe that jayster but she was still an addict. First a speed freak then weed and acid. Always a drinker, and Coke then her ultimate demise, heroin.

Lots of rock and rollers with 20+ years of recovery, Shame there were just as many casualties it seems

How Keith Richards is still alive I don’t know.

I wonder that myself

People think tupacs still alive…but I feel he was such a heavy drinker, even if he faked his death he’d be dead by now…they don’t think about this.

And George thurgood, dunno how he’s still alive either

I don’t see how Mick Jagger has all that energy. But he is a super star!
