I've just got diagnosed with dystonia

I have a neurodegenerative condition. I just got diagnosed with a second condition, called dystonia. Many people get dystonia due to medications but mine is due to a generalized degeneration of the nerves. My hope is that I can help you all dealing with medication side effect as mine are either genetic or generalized (all throughout the body). I take prampipexol 50mg and 600mg of gabapentin to calm down the pain and shaking. Even typing on the phone is a hard task for me. Honestly, having a neurological condition is a full time job. I hope the medication side effects you have aren’t as severe as mine.

I hope you can manage :confused:sorry you have these troubles

Took Pregabalin (think it’s similar to your med gabapentin) for anxiety and it was very noticeable how much it helped

My aunt takes it for lupus and it helps her a lot too

I’m glad that your mother showed improvement with gabapentin! It’s a very common medication for us movement disorder folks and we even get akathasia not related to medication at all. Basically we have everything related to antipsychotics, except the cause is neurological. It really sucks, today just felt really weird and sad after the diagnosis

So sorry you are having to deal with this. (Hugs)

I’ve had dystonia from my fnd . Not fun! I hope yours improves

I’m sorry to hear that. I’m afraid of the weight gain associated with gabapentin.

Thankfully for me the weight gain hasn’t been too bad. I’m on 600mg of it which is a lot.
