It is now that bad memories won’t leave me alone. Tonight, it’s about being stoned for being German in the US. It’s only a headache now but I still feel a terror of going out of the house. Eventually, I’ll fall asleep and will feel better in the morning. I am grateful that I live with good people.

I think nowadays being German doesn’t cause any problems. My grandmother was 100% German, and she said in the early 20th century discrimination against Germans was real.
Yes. We did better when we moved to Pennsylvania because of their large German population. There’s safety in numbers. Pennsylvania Dutch actually means Pennsylvania Deutsch.
