"It takes longer to get through these wormholes than to go directly, so they are not very useful for space travel"

the wormhole travel is not a shortcut

“From the outside perspective, travel through the wormhole is equivalent to quantum teleportation using entangled black holes,” Jafferis said.

When I was really out of it I thought the Big Dipper was some type of wormhole.

Does anyone know how to tell the difference between a wormhole and a black hole?

So based off this we should be studying black holes more than worm holes?

Its interesting if you want to be a scifi author or imagine, but its not really something I can engage with.

This is a hard science thing, that interests academics mostly.

Once they parse what it means I’ll be like “cool” but other then that, I can’t really get into it.

No offense, but I find this a bunch of ■■■■■■■■ and disinfo. But it is mainstream academia so…I read the article when it came out.

Which part don’t you believe?

From what I’ve read a wormhole is something that might be traversable. Useful for time travel or getting from point A to point B as a short cut. But this paper is saying it’s not useful because the short cut is slower? A black hole has a singularity so you’ll die or something if you get in there. I mean it’s so advanced and I’ve read some far out there theories nobody really knows. Just watch some TV docs or something. It’s fascinating stuff.

You should look into kerr black holes. They are really interesting.

Yea will definitely check that out.

The whole paper and the argument or conclusion. I mean one of my delusions is I’ve been through wormholes several times. No proof or evidence of course. Not sure why they would send me in there if they take longer. I just don’t buy it. Maybe they’re wrong and it’s not on purpose? Reminds me of those guys saying we are not in a sim. They’ll be proven wrong in 50-100 years.

I just did a web search, and it says we’ve never seen a wormhole, they are theoretical. We’ve found many black holes, but they would crush your body and kill you if you tried to pass through them in any way.

That being said it would be nice if we practically solved the FTL (faster than light) travel problem somehow. That is finding a way to travel fast enough that we could get anywhere without having to travel for centuries to get there.

Is it possible to build some type of portal to travel through space rather than an aircraft going faster than the speed of light?

Ya a wormhole but it’s impossible right now to do. We don’t even know if they exist in nature and they might be dangerous.

I meant a man made portal.

Not sure. Probably not. You’ve heard of the video game Portal, right? It’s from steam. Maybe some day but not for the foreseeable future at least for us tiny humans lol. You said possible, but it’s not practical.

Yea I love the game portal. Who knows maybe we can do that already?

Ya don’t they have a cartoon tv show or something where they go through portals? It’s a popular tv show. The name is eluding me right now.

I mean if you want to hear a schizophrenic talk about his delusions, I’ve been through alien portals in my past lives. Worst mistake ever. If you see a random portal in your backyard, don’t go through it lol. Hard lesson learned.

Michio Kaku talks about wormholes and how nano-bots can possibly keep one end open. I’m sure Stephen Hawking talked about it too. Last time I checked, we need something called negative matter or exotic matter to keep one open / create one. But that’s not the same as a portal, I guess.

Rick and Morty, I believe. Haha!

I got a portal gun mod for minecraft years ago, had a portal open to a mushroom island and used the other portal gun for fun! Good times. I also like the Sling Rings in the Marvel movies, I would love one of those. I can teleport in some of my dreams.

Are there portals in Rick and Morty @agent101g?

Yeah Rick has a portal gun he uses all the time, seems like he can go anywhere with it, including other planets and parallel dimensions. It’s what makes the show so great. Well that and Justin Roiland’s voice acting.

I will have to watch it sometime. How many seasons?
