Today I’m having the very bottom portion of my fibula (part of the fibula that reaches down into the ankle) removed and the ligaments and tendons repaired.
I’m quite nervous. They told me the pain will hit me like a brick wall if I don’t take my pain meds around the clock. That makes me nervous.
He recommended I take my last pill at midnight and my first pill at 8 am. Then throughout the day.
Unfortunately my husband won’t allow me to set alarms so I’ll sleep through the 8am time unless the pain wakes me up. They said once the pain hits, it’s hard to control which is why I’m supposed to take my meds around the clock.
This is absurd. As your medical team has told you, you need to.adhere to your pain med schedule to effectively manage your pain.
You will need to set an alarm to do this. Your husband should have no say in this matter as it is your body, your surgery, your pain and your medical treatment plan.
