I’m nervous about my upcoming surgery

14 months ago I broke my ankle.

I wore a walking boot and did physical therapy.

Well a year later I still have a lot of pain so the Dr ordered an MRI .

Turns out, the break never healed, I tore tendons (though not completely in half) and I also tore ligaments completely in half!

So they’re going to remove the bottom portion of my fibula, repair my tendons and ligaments and attach them to the upper part of the bone.

They’re warning me about being on top of my pain meds. They literally said if I don’t, the pain will hit me like a brick wall.

I can’t put any weight on it for 6 weeks. I’ll be using a knee scooter.

I can’t believe I’ve been working a physical job on my feet with my ankle like this. Obviously it hurts but I just thought I was being a baby about it.

I’m nervous about the amount of pain I might be in after surgery.

I’m so sorry your original doctor dropped the ball on your ankle being messed up. I can’t imagine the pain you’re going through. I hope your surgery goes well and that, after 6 weeks, you will be healed and pain-free. Don’t be afraid of taking the pain meds, it really sounds like you’ll need them. I’m so sorry this happened to you…
