In a couple of days I will be saying goodbye to my best friend forever.
I called the No Kill Animal Shelter where I adopted him from 3 years ago and I spoke to the woman in charge of Adoptions.
They will be ready for him Early this week.
My heart is shattered, he is such a good and sensitive dog - I hope that he makes it and gets adopted by a good family.
My “family” are a bunch of cold hearted and cruel people.
My dog was the only source of love in my life and soon this will be gone.
I wish that he can stay with me, but this place is not a safe and healthy place for him and I can no longer care for him like I should.
My future is uncertain.
I will never forget him, he will stay in my heart forever.
I feel your pain. when my gf moves out she will take her two dogs with her and I really have bonded with those dogs…I hope you can manage to feel better eventually.
I feel your pain… I really do. But tears bring nothing than more grief and sorrow and that path is uncertain as you said.
Listen, you need to thicken your skin. That’s what life demands of us. I don’t know how can you do it though. Just make yourself believe that there is no other option. Just push it and give your best in given moment.
Sometimes in order to move forward, we have to cut ties to our past…
I know that sounds somewhat like a cliche, but I also believe there is a grain of truth to it. I think you’re headed for calmer waters, @Wave. Just give it some time.
With hope, in a few weeks/months, you’ll post in here feeling refreshed and revitalized. Getting out of that toxic household is the first great step. You’ve got guts, and you’re making all of the right moves in this moment.
Oh @Wave I’m really sorry. It sounds like you are being very responsible in looking out for your dog’s best interests. Maybe ask the shelter to let you know when your dog has been adopted. That might help set you mind at ease. Take care.
@Wave, where are you at? My roommate’s sister has a lot of rescue contacts, she runs a breed-specific rescue herself. She has a soft spot for stories like yours. She may know someone in the area who can take your dog in and give him a safe, loving home.
Thank you @Rhubot but I trust the woman who is in charge of adoptions at the shelter.
They know my dog well because I adopted him from the same shelter.
I am glad that it’s a no kill shelter.
That’s good. It sounds like you’re doing the brave and loving thing for both you and your dog. I’m sorry for the pain it’s causing you, but I admire the way you’re handling it.
i am so sorry, i know what its like to get rid of a beloved pet. my in laws have forced me to get rid of many of them. including my favorite pet, my uromastyx shuji/
